JSON to YAML Converter

When a deployment tool expects YAML but your sample is a JSON response, start with a validated conversion instead of replacing punctuation by hand. The converter parses JSON and serializes its objects, arrays and primitive values as YAML. It uses two-space indentation and quotes strings when needed to preserve their meaning. This is useful for short configuration examples and test fixtures; it is not a migration system for application-specific configuration schemas or a validator for your deployment platform.

What does this tool do?

JSON and YAML can describe similar trees, but their surface syntax differs. JSON requires double-quoted property names, braces around objects and commas between entries. YAML usually uses indented mappings and dash-prefixed sequences. A list of objects needs both patterns. Inspect a nested list after conversion to make sure you understand which keys belong to each item before editing it manually.

Common mistakes and limitations

JSON comments and trailing commas are invalid and must be removed first. Duplicate JSON keys collapse during parsing, and very large integers can lose precision in the JavaScript number model. Store exact identifiers as strings. The serializer may choose quotes differently from your preferred style while preserving the parsed value. Output is intended for YAML 1.2 consumers; older loaders may interpret some scalars differently.

Frequently asked questions

Will comments be added automatically?

No. JSON carries no comments, so the output contains only the parsed data.
